The Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra has been awarded a project called the Creative Center of SPU. Total eligible expenses should reach over six million euros, with SPU contributing five percent of the costs. As part of the new project, the university will build a creative center that will focus primarily on three sectors of the creative industry – design, architecture, advertising and marketing.

The main objective of the project is to mobilize and support creative potential in the Nitra Region, to build a favorable environment for the development of creative talent and non-technological innovations, which can help contribute to stimulating employment and creating jobs in the cultural and creative industries.

Currently, there is no creative center in the Nitra Region that would provide services to the extent of the proposed SPU Creative Center. Its ambition is to capture the untapped potential of young people - graduates of universities and high schools of diverse specializations, as well as start-up and existing entrepreneurs in the creative industry, who, thanks to an environment supporting the development of their creative and innovative thinking and talent, would not leave the region and would increase its overall status.

The proposed SPU Creative Center will be designed as a reconstruction of an unfinished and unused part of the Slovak Agricultural Library in Nitra. Part of the building was approved after the reconstruction of the production building as a library in 2008. In the unapproved and unfinished part, the premises will be reconstructed for the needs of the newly emerging creative center.

The departments of the SPU Creative Center in Nitra (KC) will provide services within three programs - Development of Creative Talent and Skills, Entrepreneurship Support, and Networking Support.

The types of services and programs for defined target groups will include open workshops, an open innovation studio, creating a business plan for a creative incubator (KI), a creative accelerator (KA) for start-up entrepreneurs, a purpose-built KA, organizing networking events for KC members, supporting the involvement of KC members in networks, and more.

The implementation schedule of project activities is planned until June 2023.
